SIS – Suffering In Silence empowers survivors of domestic violence, abuse, trauma, and life crises through advocacy, support services, education, healing-centered programs, and community partnerships that help individuals reclaim their voice, rebuild their lives, and achieve long-term stability and success.

Gary Hobbs
Board Chair
Gary Hobbs is a distinguished entrepreneur, business executive, and real estate developer with more than three decades of leadership experience spanning real estate development, construction, technology, healthcare, and finance. Throughout his career, he has successfully combined technical expertise, strategic vision, and financial acumen to build high-performing organizations and transformative development projects. Gary began his professional journey as an electrical design engineer and advanced through senior leadership roles at global corporations including AT&T, Eli Lilly and Company, and Roche Diagnostics. As an engineer, project manager, executive, developer, and entrepreneur, he has led organizations of more than 400 professionals and managed capital programs and operating budgets exceeding $100 million....

Dominique
Vice Chair
Dominique is a Gary, Indiana native. Her residence has been in Indianapolis for over 30 years. She is a graduate of Vincennes and Indiana Wesleyan University and holds a B.S. degree in Business Management, Criminal Justice and an A.S. in Mortuary Science. Dominique has been appointed by the duly elected Marion County Coroner as Administrator of Pathology. She also is a Medical Death Investigator for the State of Indiana but serves at Marion County Coroner's Office with over 20 years of service in her current position but 32 years of government service....

Teresa Wright-Brown
Executive Director
Teresa Wright-Brown is an accomplished executive, property management professional, and community advocate whose life and career are defined by a profound commitment to service, leadership, and empowerment. Her foundational values were shaped early on by her mother's impactful work with the nonprofit organization ASSI, an experience that instilled in Teresa a lifelong passion for uplifting vulnerable populations. Today, Teresa channels that passion as the Executive Director of Suffering in Silence, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for women, helping them find their voices, and encouraging them to be silent no more so that true healing can begin. Her visionary leadership at the organization is backed by a rich, multi-faceted professional history....

Cassie Shaffer
Treasurer
With 18 years of accounting experience in the property management and construction industries, Cassie is passionate about helping organizations maintain strong financial foundations while supporting the people and communities behind every property. As a Property Management Accountant, she brings a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to financial reporting, budgeting, and portfolio management, ensuring clients and colleagues have the information they need to make confident decisions. Known for a collaborative style and a commitment to accuracy, Cassie enjoys building strong working relationships and finding practical solutions to complex financial challenges. She believes that effective accounting is about more than numbers — it's about providing clarity, fostering trust, and contributing to long-term success....

Board Secretary
With over 35 years of experience in corporate management across a variety of industries, SeBell brings exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills to the SIS Board of Directors. Her background as a Human Resources professional has given her a unique ability to connect with people from all walks of life. She dedicated years as Vice President of the Board for PACE Indy, is an owner of an event design company, and currently serves families in the funeral industry with compassion and genuine care....

Lori Hobbs
Board Member
Lori Hobbs brings extensive organizational leadership and community engagement experience to SIS. As co-owner of Sprowl Funeral and Cremation Care, one of Central Indiana's largest minority-owned funeral service providers, she understands the importance of serving families and communities with compassion and distinction. Her dedication to the SIS mission and hands-on approach to building the organization has been instrumental in moving the nonprofit from vision to reality. Lori's commitment to empowering survivors and her tireless work behind the scenes ensure that SIS continues to grow and serve those who need it most.
